What to Bring on Your First Day

Starting nursery is an exciting milestone, and we’re here to help make the transition as smooth and positive as possible. To help your child feel comfortable and well-prepared, here’s a handy checklist of what to bring on their first day:

  • Indoor shoes – preferably soft gym shoes that are easy for your child to take on and off.

  • Weather-appropriate outdoor clothing – including a waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, or sunhat depending on the season. We go outdoors in all weathers!

  • A full spare change of clothes – including socks and underwear, just in case of any little accidents or messy play.

  • Nappies, wipes, and creams – if your child is not yet toilet trained.

  • Milk – breast milk or formula, ready to mix or prepared, clearly labelled with your child’s name (if needed during the day).

  • A named water bottle or cup – suitable for your child’s age and stage.

Please place all your child’s items in a clearly named bag that can stay at nursery. To avoid any confusion or mix-ups, we kindly ask that all clothing, bottles, and belongings are labelled with your child’s name.

Your child is welcome to bring a comfort item or special toy to help them settle during their first few days. Once they feel happy and secure, we recommend leaving special items at home to keep them safe from being lost or damaged.

If you have any questions or would like advice about what to pack, please don’t hesitate to ask — we’re always here to help!
